Let’s be real for a second: most people treat their lives like a Sunday drive with no GPS and a half-empty tank of gas. They wander around, hoping to stumble across "success" like it’s some hidden treasure map buried in the backyard.
I’m here to tell you that hope is not a strategy.
If you want to move from where you are to where you want to be: whether that’s in your career, your fitness, or your personal relationships: you need a roadmap. Not just a vague idea, but a proven framework that holds up when things get messy. In my book CHANGE, I talk about the fundamental shift required to stop reacting to life and start designing it.
Today, we’re diving into the "Goals" pillar of the Brady Young Change philosophy. We’re breaking down the 5 steps of the CHANGE Framework to help you build a roadmap that actually leads to the winner’s circle.
Step 1: Confirm Your Destination (The Power of Clarity)
You can’t hit a target you haven't set. Most people set "wishes," not goals. "I want to make more money" is a wish. "I want to increase my revenue by 25% by December 31st through three new high-ticket clients" is a destination.
In the world of high performance, clarity is your greatest currency. When I wrote Business Decision Making, I realized that most bad decisions stem from a lack of clear objectives. If you don't know exactly what you’re trying to achieve, every distraction looks like an opportunity.
Actionable Transformation Strategy: Sit down today and write out your "North Star" goal. Don't worry about the how yet: just focus on the what. Make it specific, measurable, and slightly terrifying. If your goal doesn't make your heart beat a little faster, it’s probably too small.

Step 2: Habitualize Your Actions
Once you have the destination, you need the engine to get there. That engine is your habits. Your roadmap is worthless if you don’t have the daily discipline to follow the path.
In the Brady Young Change community, we talk a lot about "Habit Stacking." You don't need to overhaul your entire life in 24 hours. You need to identify the three core habits that, if performed daily, would make your success inevitable.
If your goal is to become a thought leader, your habit is writing for 30 minutes every morning. If your goal is physical dominance, your habit is the 5 AM gym session. Success is just a collection of boring, repetitive habits done with excellence.
Actionable Transformation Strategy: Identify the "Lead Domino" habit for your current goal. What is the one thing that, if done daily, makes everything else easier or unnecessary? Commit to it for the next 21 days without exception.
Step 3: Assess and Adjust (The Decision-Making Filter)
The road to success is never a straight line. You’re going to hit roadblocks, detours, and the occasional engine failure. This is where most people quit. They see a "Road Closed" sign and turn around.
Successful people use these moments to apply the principles from Business Decision Making. You need a framework for assessing your progress. Are your current actions moving the needle? If not, you don't change the destination; you change the strategy.
We call this the "Feedback Loop." Every week, look at your data. Look at your results. If the roadmap is leading you into a swamp, adjust the coordinates.
Actionable Transformation Strategy: Perform a "Weekly Audit" every Sunday evening. Ask yourself:
What went well?
Where did I drift off course?
What is one decision I need to make this week to get back on track?

Step 4: Network for Support (Your Inner Circle)
You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with. We’ve all heard it, but few people actually audit their circle. If your roadmap is taking you to the mountain top, but your friends are all hanging out in the valley, they are going to become anchors.
Building a high-performer inner circle is a critical part of the CHANGE Framework. You need people who have already traveled the road you’re on. You need mentors who can point out the potholes before you hit them.
This isn't just about "networking" at awkward mixers; it's about intentional relationship building.
Actionable Transformation Strategy: Identify one person who is 5–10 years ahead of where you want to be. Reach out to them. Don't ask to "pick their brain": offer value first. Maybe it's a resource, a connection, or simply a sincere thank you for their work. Build the bridge before you need to cross it.

Step 5: Generate Massive Momentum (Execution)
The final step is where the rubber meets the road. You have the goal, the habits, the decision-making framework, and the network. Now, you have to execute.
Momentum is a fragile thing. It’s hard to start but easy to keep going once it’s rolling. The key to the CHANGE Framework is to focus on "Micro-Wins." Don't obsess over the 1,000 miles left on the roadmap. Focus on the next 10 feet.
When you win the morning, you win the day. When you win the day, you win the week. Suddenly, you look back and realize you’ve traveled further than you ever thought possible. This is the essence of my book CHANGE: shifting your perspective from the daunting "big picture" to the powerful "right now."
Actionable Transformation Strategy: Identify your "Power Three" tasks for tomorrow. These are the three non-negotiable tasks that move your roadmap forward. Do them before you check your email, before you browse social media, and before you let the world’s priorities dictate your day.

Why the CHANGE Framework Works
Most "self-help" advice is fluff. It tells you to "believe in yourself" without giving you a system to handle the reality of hard work. The reason the Brady Young Change philosophy resonates with thousands of professionals is that it’s rooted in actionable reality.
The CHANGE Framework isn't just a catchy name: it's a philosophy of constant evolution.
Communication: How you lead yourself and others.
Habits: The foundation of your daily life.
Attitude: The lens through which you see challenges.
Network: The people who fuel your growth.
Goals: The roadmap to your ultimate success.
Education: The continuous learning that keeps you sharp.
When you align these pillars, success stops being a mystery and starts being a mathematical certainty.
Final Thoughts from Brad
Look, I’ve been where you are. I’ve stood at the bottom of the mountain looking up, wondering if I had what it takes. The difference between those who make it and those who stay at the bottom is the willingness to follow a proven system.
Stop guessing. Stop hoping.
Grab your copy of CHANGE or Business Decision Making if you need the deep-dive blueprints. But more importantly, take the first step on your roadmap today. The version of you that exists a year from now is counting on the decisions you make in the next five minutes.
What’s it going to be? Are you going to keep driving aimlessly, or are you ready to follow the roadmap?
Let’s get to work.
